DEKRA’s International Battery Test Center

New Battery Test Center in Germany

DEKRA has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art battery test center in Germany. The center is a crucial building block in DEKRA’s strategy to develop testing and test services for the next generation of electric vehicles.

All types of tests are performed here under one roof – from mechanical and environmental tests to so-called “abuse tests,” where batteries are subjected to extreme stresses far beyond normal use. The purpose is to guarantee the highest possible safety standard and reliability.

DEKRA’s facility was completed in less than 15 months and represents an investment of tens of millions of euros in the future of electrified mobility.

What else are we developing at DEKRA’s battery test center in Klettwitz?

DEKRA operates the largest independent test center for the future of automated and connected mobility in vehicles, with services including noise measurement, road tests, ADAS, connectivity, and tests for automated driving. The operations also include powertrain and emissions testing for battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

From mid-2025, DEKRA opened a state-of-the-art Battery Test Center in Klettwitz, Germany, offering comprehensive battery testing – from development and validation to certification. Services also include analysis, logistics, and recycling. Through its global network of high-tech laboratories, DEKRA supports innovation in electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, C2X communication, functional safety, cybersecurity, and AI.
