Before the battery test – information for companies

Ensure access to vehicle and data

Before the battery test.

Before the battery test, the vehicle must be available for physical inspection and digital readout. This means that:

  • The vehicle must be fully identifiable via registration number or VIN.

  • The high-voltage battery must be active and accessible for diagnostics.

  • The vehicle must be able to start and communicate with the test system.

  • Any error messages or limitations should be documented in advance.

Access to correct vehicle data ensures that the test result is accurate and comparable.

Technical requirements for conducting the battery test

  • The battery in the electric vehicle/plug-in hybrid matches the list* of vehicles that DEKRA can test.

  • For the battery test to be carried out, the battery must be charged between 40–80 percent (State of Charge).

  • Battery temperature between +10°C to +30°C (may differ significantly from the ambient temperature).

  • Individual cell temperature differences within the battery <2°C.

  • DEKRA’s battery test can only be performed on the batteries that DEKRA has verified and checked. Even if the make and model match, the battery in the vehicle may differ between different VIN series.
