MRF launches new product declaration for used electric vehicles – includes requirements on whether a battery test has been performed

On November 1, new product declarations (VDN) for used cars were introduced, developed in collaboration between MRF (the Swedish Association for Motor Retail Trades and Repairs) and the Swedish Consumer Agency. For the first time, electric vehicles are covered by a specific declaration – a step that marks an important change in how electric vehicles are to be assessed and valued on the Swedish market.

In the new VDN declaration, the car’s battery health, known as State of Health (SoH), can be reported. It also specifies which measurement method and test brand were used, as well as a numerical value for the battery’s condition on a scale of 1–100.

“MRF’s new product declaration for electric vehicles is a welcome step toward increased clarity and security for both dealers and customers. The health of the battery is a central part of the car’s value, and it is very positive that the industry is now highlighting this more clearly,” says Joakim Hansson, Quality and Environmental Manager at DEKRA Automotive AB.

More car dealers choose DEKRA’s digital battery testing solution for electric vehicles

Be-Ge Personbilar AB is one of many car dealers choosing to partner with DEKRA to offer their customers clear and independent information about battery health in electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. Through DEKRA’s SaaS-based solution, the car dealer gains access to the market’s most comprehensive testing and certification system for electric vehicle batteries.

The digital platform is based on DEKRA’s renowned DEKRA Battery SoH Test – Certificate, an advanced test that provides an objective assessment of the battery’s capacity and condition.

“We already have a successful collaboration with DEKRA, including quality controls on the workshop side. The battery test with its associated SaaS solution is a natural extension of our partnership because we place great importance on what the product actually provides the customer. The major customer benefit of DEKRA’s battery test is that we can now test all makes we receive, and do so quickly and precisely,” says Andreas Krieg, Workshop Manager, Be-Ge Personbilar AB.

DEKRA inaugurates new battery test center in Germany – Swedish electric vehicle owners gain access to new battery service

DEKRA has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art battery test center in Germany – an investment that now also benefits the Swedish electric vehicle market. With the launch of two newly developed battery services, car owners and dealers gain a clear picture of the battery’s state of health, creating increased security when buying, selling, and using electric vehicles.

The centre is an important building block in DEKRA’s strategy to develop testing and testing services for the next generation of electric vehicles. Here, all types of tests are carried out under one roof – from mechanical and environmental tests to so-called “abuse tests”, where batteries are exposed to extreme stresses far beyond normal use. The aim is to guarantee the highest possible safety standards and reliability.

However, the investment does not only benefit the industry – car dealers and private individuals can now also take advantage of DEKRA’s expertise. Based on the new battery test center, DEKRA has developed two battery tests for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids already on the road.
